PETA needs to stop already
Jun 19th, 2009 by admin

Just one of the many reasons PETA scares me can be seen HERE. Link goes to a news article. I guess Obama swatted a fly, and this is an inhumane act against animals. Really PETA? House flies are the filthiest animals possible. Why do you think too many in restaurants counts as a health code violation in many places? This is just absurd, I mean really. Think of what would happen if we all just stopped killing house flies. I would argue that allowing houseflies to live is likely to be more damaging to the native ecosystem than anything.

Silly me, though. Why am I bothering to use logic? These are the same people who think we should all release our house pets right now. Because roving bands of feral dogs is the solution to inhumane acts against animals! Give me a break. These people need to spend some time living on a farm and get their stupid little granola crunching heads in the right place.

(Please note. I love animals. I’m all for humane treatment. But only when it is actually humane, and makes sense. I also very much like granola. FYI.)

Oh man

THIS xkcd (same as below) is a really popular comic. Anyone who has ordered something from amazon knows the mental sickness that comes along with package tracking.

Remember when I was so proud I had successfully installed google analytics? I spoke too soon. It is WAY too cool to know where views are coming from. And I CAN’T. STOP. CLICKING. Oh my.

Interesting!

I feel proud of myself. When coming to college, I was awarded a (esentially) full-ride scholarship. Naturally, I was very happy about this. I didn’t know just how lucky I was, though. It turns out, only 50 students a year receive this scholarship. My university has over 20,000 students. Given the 200 total students in the school with this scholarship (50×4), I had a 0.01% chance of getting this scholarship. Um, wow. Yay? I think I can safely say yay.

In less yay news, I found this out because my scholarship adviser seems to no longer exist. I think he may have died. I’m taking summer classes next quarter, and wanted to be sure the scholarship wouldn’t cover it (so I get normal coverage in later terms). Upon emailing him, it came back saying the email address no longer exists. And its gotten more complicated from there. So tomorrow brings a lot of leg work. Weeee.

Yesterday, I was compared to Chelsea Clinton. I’m not sure I’m happy about that. Something I’m sure I’m not happy about? My age being guessed at 15. When I told her I’m 20, she laughed, because she thought I was joking. So much for having outgrown that particular issue.

You know what?

I would think, if you were making air fresheners, a basic tenant of your design would be “don’t set it in an open dish and make it look like candy”. But that is exactly what Renuzit Crystal Elements has succeeded in doing. It takes a whole new level of “fail” to miss that one.

In looking for the picture below, it also seems that they are essentially worthless in the “aroma production” department.

Burgers

As many of you know, I am dating a vegetarian. As some of you know, I hunt. As a few of you know, there is hardly anything that holds a candle to elk backstrap in my book. But I have to come clean. Maybe it is that Ash Wednesday was yesterday that prompted it (not likely) but I must tell the truth.

I have found a vegetarian food that I love.

It is a burger from a restaurant in town, called the “fakin bacon burger” which has crisp provolone on a sunflower seed patty. I crave it. Now don’t get me wrong, this in no way replaces meat. (Especially not bacon). It is a food item unto itself. I’m pretty sure it would take cocaine-laced chocolate patties to pull me away from meat. Even though, jury is out.

I feel so much better now that that’s out there. Thank you for listening.

PS- what is it with me and thinking about cocaine in cooking?
